I remember watching this on some fansub site as it was coming out and just being devastated. This I think was what legitimately got me watching week to week, but not what pushed me to catch up with the manga (though thats not far now).

manga didn't take a break but those days are slow as F 😅 there's also a time when one of the peakest peak is finally happening then WSJ have 2 weeks break because of holidays, god it's a struggle

he is a mod and if you watch everything, boldcast mentioned they don't wanna even hear anticipation of future episodes... we can't help it though, I'm one who keep saying One Peak 😅 they can just binge it instead to prevent it rather than always catching up, it's a win win

@SomeoneElse, Fabulous The anime had a 1 week break after 405 but nothing major. It's super easy to find this info either using the wiki or the visual calendar on claystage.com. if you ever feel like something is true but you aren't sure. just take 5 seconds to check before spreading misinformation. I feel like tons of stuff spreads like this where people just feel like something is a certain way and they post it as fact without looking for any confirmation. Falling down stairs being a euphemism for suicide springs to mind for me.

yes literally yes. My guess is there are less than 10 episodes with the full thing... out of almost 400 episodes... and this does not include other series. They have had uncuts done this way for years at this point idk what to tell you

For me 395 and 396 show full episode overlay. 397 and onwards overlay reduced to slightly more then subtitles. Are these perhaps the 1% your talking about?

Up to 396 or so uncut included the whole episode overlay. Arcane stil has full overlay too as far as i can tell ( i dont watch, just tested a recent episode, later then 396).

What do you mean? I'm pretty sure this is the normal overlay. If they pause mid episode sometimes theyll leave the whole video in so people dont have to re-sync, but for uncuts you're supposed to watch the episode on your own streaming platform along with them

I'd just like to point out that in this arc the Strawhats "hit a wall" as in the Redline halfway point while simultaneously "hitting a wall" powerscaling-wise after scraping by to victory basically since they entered the Grandline.

yes. against crocodile luffy almost dies two time and survuved by luck. against enelhe had the advantage of his devil fruit. against CP9 he was so beat up he could not move anymore. against moria they had to all fight togethter against moria were they usualy have one v one, and luffy ended up falling unconscious at the end of the fight. and now even if they all fight together they can't win.

Watching it back they say it a few times and its VERY evident that the enemies just get stronger and stronger and they are barely surviving sometimes thanks to luck. For example, if Luffy wasn't rubber, Enel would've torched them instantly. Eventually their skill and abilities always had a limit that caught up to them. Really cool that they followed through with that idea.

I love Luffy's voice actor on this one. We can hear the pure pain and despair he's going through. As you said, he doesn't know if he kills them, and even with that explanation that they got of what may be actually happening, they don't know if that's true, since it was told like some kind of rumor, but who knows if it even is true. I am sure that in Luffy's and everyone's eye, they at that point don't even have the time to think about stuff, and they just see all the others vanishing. They probably think they are being vanished out of existence at least as a possibility. I think this makes most sense from their perspective, because they don't know any of the details we know regarding Kuma's questionable decisions, and because of their reaction. Luffy being left there, in by far the worst mental state we've seen him, completely destroyed and tortured mentally. He doesn't seem to even consider the possiblity of them being saved.

For me it's the contrast of Luffy's character that gets me in this episode. For 400 episodes, we've seen him as a happy and bubbly character beating the shit out of every problem that gets in his way, and here he completely breaks down in despair and realizing he's not strong enough. Heartbreaking, 10/10 performance by Mayumi Tanaka

I really love this end to the Arc. Throughout all of One Piece Luffy has been running around doing whatever he wants trusting that his strength and his will would get get him out of any situation he got himself into, no matter how many people warned him that what he was doing was an elaborate way of committing suicide. Certainly it makes for an entertaining storyline, but here we find the natural consequences of such actions. Luffy picked a fight he knew he couldn't win, and now he's suffered (at least as far as he can tell) the complete and total destruction of his crew, just like the Warlords have been warning him would happen if he continued on his current trajectory. Luffy has been forced to confront the fact that unless you're strong enough to shake the pillars of heaven, you can't actually be as free as he has always desired to be. It's an excellent wake up call for him, so we can only hope it didn't come too late.

This arc also proves that Oda knows the main character's limitation. He knows Luffy is not too strong yet so he broke down Luffy's confidence for him to reflect before going to the New World.

This arc just shows how the Straw Hats are not ready yet for the New World. Moria was right they're a bunch of cockroaches if they step on the New World where the Four Emperors rules there. Just imagine get beaten up by a Pacifista they won't even survive once they step on the New World on this level. Can't wait to see your reaction on upcoming episodes.

This is the episode, man, crazy even on so many rewatches, the fact that it didn't even matter how strong they are, they were all popped like bubbles, at least this in Luffy's perspective, he witness exactly what Moria did, his crew completely eradicated in front of his eyes, he thought he was different, but Moria was right, they were not ready for the new world. everything is cliché until it happens to you. It was bound to happen, people say Luffy should not have punched a Celestial Dragon, I say he should not have worn blue. I guess it's a lesson, do not bite off more than you can chew. The strawhats were lucky the World Govt. were busy during the Enies Lobby incident, but luck is not enough to make you the King of the Pirates.

So many red flags of the Crew biting more than they can chew from Enies Lobby to now That feeling of victory against the world government at the end of the fight The fight against another warlord Barely winning when they needed the enemy's own ability, a Strawhat combination and the choice of Kuma and Zoro's sacrifice Luffys gears taking such a toll on his body everytime he fights Things overwhelming our knowledge of the world and the opponents we're facing It all comes crashing down and Luffy's devastated. We've never seen him this panicked and ready to scram for their lives over fighting. Can't wait for you guys to see where it'll lead and your thoughts on it

No matter how many times I see this episode, no matter how many times I reassure myself with the knowledge of everything that happens after this....seeing Luffy break down shreds my heart. Almost every prior arc they were able to split up and hold their own. Thriller Bark was the first time they really came together as a team to take down one big bad. Between Ennies Lobby and Thriller Bark, the Straw Hats felt invincible. But they're still rookies in the minor league.

I love how oda went through full force with presenting the major consequences that can happen if you attack a celestial dragon. If luffy had not punched that Cdragon, this entire turn of events would never have taken place.
