Episode was a bit scuffed up animation wise, lots of draw up moments. It's painfully obvious at times how cartoonishly evil the world government is depicted but then you get high commanding officers like Aokiji with some nuance that feels almost like a contradiction on what he's set up to be as a character.

So hyped for this drop. The way I read Aokiji's decision was that he basically had to grant Spandam the authority to initiate a buster call but he was allowed to make one stipulation, that being that Robin was exempt from said buster call. Even though he is an admiral I don't think he would be allowed to also exempt a group of pirates when they're the whole reason the buster call would be initiated in the first place. I do agree that his reasoning is a bit fuzzy here since we don't get to hear it from him in the moment. Basically, I think that Aokiji was working within the confines of his duties to try to affect the best outcome he could. He is bound by his duty as a marine despite his reservations about how "justice" is carried out.
