I cant speak to Carson's inner reasoning but a character being thought-provoking and interesting doesn't inherently make them not out of place, so the fact that you find Gan Fall to be those things isn't evidence towards your point.

Got you. I think the issue with jojo starting form part 3 is there is a lot of stand of the week that doesn’t add to the main story. Part 5 is the only part where every single stand/fight adds to the plot, hence it is my favorite. But the issue is again there in part 6

Addressing Carson's comments on the previous episode: What was so out of place about Gan Fall? He thinks not for himself but for the whole of Skypiea. His approach to situations is one of a diplomatic response rather than a warrior's act and was against the centuries old war with the Shandians. A much more thought-provoking and interesting character than Kokoro

oh god these nami fights... I love characters being stupid or having their personality traits be a downside in battle, but having her fight much stronger people who inexplicably stand under a small cloud and watch her do a full news weatherman segment so she can hit them with lightning is painful

The shadow clone technique was an "advanced" version of the clone jutsu in Naruto which is basically what Nami uses here. Clone jutsu is a good technique till you know there's a tangible clones technique out there.

For the pun involved in Kalifa's technique names. She ate the Awa-Awa no Mi, Bubble-Bubble fruit, so her attack is literally called "Golden Bubbles"/Golden Awa but it sounds like "Golden Hour" which is a term for the ''most beautiful time of day'', the period of time just after sunrise or just before sunset when the light is infused with red and gold tones. Her attack "Relax Bubbles"/Relax Awa sounds like "Relax Hour", perfect for a long bubble bath.
