I don't personally find it farfetch'd that kaku would be annoyed at jabra for mocking the devil fruit power he'll have for the rest of his life, and it doesn't seem like CP9 as a whole are that determined to take down the straw hats under the order of Spamdam, so Kaku goofing off and arguing with Jabra made sense to me. But I understand that people can have their own opinions on it; that's just mine.

TBF you also kinda forgetting Jabra was number 2 before Kaku and the others came back and after chapapa evaluated their levels again he got very insecure against Kaku now that he is higher level than him so the gag of them arguing was always there even during kaku and khalifa eating the DF. Also the power rankings we were introduced by chapapa was 1 Lucci 2 Kaku 3 Jabra 4 blueno 5 yayoi 6 chapapa 7 khalifa in case you forgot

Alot of people love Ennies lobby but when I look at it, it’s probably the most "shonen" you can get with an arc in OP and maybe it’s because of that, it really hit that kind of demographic back in the day with its cool character moments, probably the most balanced 1v1 fights up to this point in the series and of course great fight choreography that goes along with it. In terms of character development, it is pretty good as you got to see many of the straw hats have their own confrontations and witness new evolutions of their abilities with higher stakes present. It doesn’t quite have the deeper complex direction/planning and writing that later arcs have, but it’s one of those arcs that if you turn your brain off a bit and just enjoy the growth of the characters, the action and the fun adventure and hijinks, you will enjoy it. Though like any arc in OP, the climax and payoff is peak.

I remember this is the fight that really made me wish Franky was coming with us lol. Imo one of the best matchups of the whole arc: super funny, fast paced, visually spectacular and just overall awesome.

Kaku and Jabura are the Zoro and Sanji of CP9, they argue with each other. Theres a more brotherly charm when Zoro and Sanji bicker to each other, while it’s opposite with Kaku and Jabra, especially when Jabra thought he was stronger than Kaku before Fukurou’s Doriki results.

the gag stuff is exactly why you were fine with stuff that you werent fine or forgiving with in naruto. Any character can be dumbed down to a gag, and i mean anyone, very minimal people keep their aura. The world is just goofy. When naruto does it with a serious moment its very unbelievable because the world is never like that so i prefer this world of, legit, 99% of characters having gags than having a comedic relief moment that ruins the whole battle atmosphere because it is not the norm. The gag of him fighting with jabra was there before the fights so its not a 180 turn, if jabra wasnt there he wouldnt be doing that most likely. i still understand your point, its subjective

I agree. Kaku lost some style points along with some brain cells when he transformed. Jabra seemed to have something against Kaku ever since they interacted. He was pissed at him being lower in power lvl by only 20 points. He was discouraging him from eating the devil fruit cuz maybe he would get even more powerful etc. So the banter was always there. Idk if theres a commentary to be made of carnivore vs herbivore devil fruits and thats why they somehow got more against each other but whatever.

The back and forth shit that happens between ussop and the other two never happens in the manga, the only part that happens is zoro mentioning cutting off one of their hands and the sogeking sword. I just checked. The anime sometime add stuff to extend the episode as their only doinf 1 chapter per ep

kaku feeling nerfed is a popular opinion tbh (from what I've seen), a lot of people including myself feel like the giraffe transformation strips him of his AURA. would've been cooler if he had a better df but this is what makes one piece, one piece, like youve said. but yeah let the fight play out i guess. W reaction. lots of good points in the post discussion

I totally forgot how crazy this fight suddenly got, the animation did not have to go that hard lmao. I'm convinced transformed zoan users have their IQ reduced to that of the animal because there is no way Kaku and Jabra are that petty.

You're right about the elongation the banter between Kaku and Jabura is like 1 page in the manga. It's just the duality of One Piece's presentation, especially when transitioning from one state of a fight to the other.
