Upon meeting Luffy, Aokiji just said that Luffy is as free-spirited as his grandfather, who used to cause a lot of trouble for him (227). The reason he walked away, after freezing Luffy, Aokiji claims is because he (/ the Marines) owe Luffy one for supressing Crocodile & that this should cancel out that debt (228).

I like to think reactors have a hard time reacting to Robin's flashback because of the level of intellectual curiosity that forms from just the concept of OP's deep lore, and the more than ever apparent, "Oh shit it's a flashback save our souls" preemptive causion that the series has trained viewers with at this point. It's just hard to make statements when a show is actively putting effort into sounding emotionally touching , or smart and they're trying to hit you with both here. You apologied for it but don't worry about getting a little quiet during these, as far as react channels go you two have an excellent rapport and discuss in more detail than most. I started with this series many years ago and the concept of knowledge over the last 2 decades with the internet relates a lot of this story's tribulations. It used to be originally shared exactly who the 5 elders were based off of, I even saw the reference photo for the Japanese politician with the katana that people wrongly connect to Ghandi. Now all but one of those names are displayed, the wiki says things like, his " appearance MAY be based on the late Mikhail Gorbachev", him being most blatant of the bunch that name has stuck. Though his own relations are clues to returning the remaining ones.
