In all fairness, Usopp's attacks were only working cause he wasn't outnumbered. He's literally setting multiple area of effects in a particular order for one opponent after prepping for someone who he's watched fight for how many arcs now. Poor Usopp though. Being in back to back situations where no matter how much he prepared it was never enough... :(

you're right and that "he has a good battle iq" is true as well but the whole gist of it all is that at that point of the story his actions are purely driven by emotion(al desperation), be it mindlessly barging into the Franky House solo, hanging onto the Merry or going all out in a fight against Luffy, he was being anything but rational in all of those 3 situations and that's the point

Yea “most” most means the majority but not all. Dials, egg star, tabasco star, exploding star and flame star he had all this in the bag and we know from flashes of their down time on the ship he keeps this stuff stocked and ready. He had three new attack and maybe had to prep the breath dial.

i guess going to the franky family base alone againts a horde of people isnt enough drive and thats after being beaten to a pulp

The problem is how hard he fought against him. I wanted him to have that same drive towards them. Which he should had since at the time they were the source of the problem. It just something that never has sat right with me.

The problem is, it only worked because he knows Luffy. Man literally says as much. He can prepare because he has knowledge. How does he prepare for a foe he doesn’t know?

I think this might be the last time we see Usopp use a wide range/multiple types of dials in combat…

This is literally my only gripe with usopp. He goes so hard on luffy but not the franky family. He had most of this in his arsenal already and he has a good battle iq. And unfortunately he decided to use it all to it’s peak on his best friend
