Tanjiro also comes from a mountainous village that lacks electricity, and while butter was around Japan (I think they had even started making it there by then) it was probably an upper middle class type luxury, and would have a hard time finding it's way up to a mountain village. Taisho era secrets are fun

Glad you're both feeling better! Yeah, each Hashira training in the manga is like 1 and half pages so there is alot of anime original material here. It's being done very well though considering; they definitely consulted the mangaka.
