You forgot that Buggy's dreams were shattered because Shanks (that awful guy) forced him to eat a devil fruit. For sure, it's an evil plan. That guy never recovered! Joke aside, Montblanc and his scavenger friends probably would hate accidentally eating a devil fruit and suddenly being unable to swim. There's also another case I can think of, which I won't detail, but basically, any case where your livelihood or lifestyle involves being in the sea a lot.

Yes because you can tell the show was clearly extended. The main one piece story didn’t have to be this long. A lot of things were added in between to make it longer

I agree to a certain extent with what u said about devil fruits but at the same time i appreciate the simplicity of the power system. You eat it, u get a power and u cant swim. Maybe with time u get more limitations or other convoluted things related to them as the story progresses, or maybe u dont get anything at all and this is just it. In the end, bcuz of the type of story one piece is, like u said, it feels like some mysteries have a longer shelf life that ppl dont care how long it takes as long as eventually they are gonna be addressed.

I was just checking the wiki to learn more about Chimney and Gonbe because your theorizing got me interested. I don't want to give any information that's relevant to anything but something I found hilarious is that Gonbe is Chimney's pet cat, that's how he is introduced and referred to. But Gonbe is a rabbit... Chimney just thinks that he is a cat XD. Idk why but that is just so funny to me. Completely irrelevant information but just shows Oda's dedication to putting goofey stuff in there.
