I'm glad I'm not the only one who immediately thought of Johan lol. And I definitely agree with the demon stuff. As much as I love series like Demon Slayer and Re:zero and Mushoku Tensei which approach Demons in a more sympathetic light like you were saying, I love that the Frieren author is just using them as these terrifying primordial creatures like they used to be.

All the names are in german, and as a german speaking person it's pretty funny to see. For example, the demons: Lügner = liar Draht = wire (which seems to be his weapon) Linie = line (not sure why yet)

Yeah I adore how demons are portrayed in this show. They have no real understanding of the human terms they use but they know saying specific words gets them sympathy and that helps them prey more effectively. Like cats meowing basically and I love that
