I loved that quick switch to an almost villain arc. Like you know what fuck these guys!

Not sure if you guys realized why the MC thought he was going to die even though he knew it was a test of faith. He figured out they had to wait out the blue flame timer by having enough people stay in the circle to stare at the statues preventing them from killing those in the circle, but once half the people ran it was impossible to watch them all so leaving became the only way to possibly survive.
