I think starting from amazon liliy to post marine arc is Luffy and others individual journey, this journey excerciese their mentality and also was a reality check for all strawhats. I feel bad for Luffy to get through this on his own and the others helpesness for unable to help their captain..

I always get so heartbroken at the end of this episode when the Straw Hats realize what has happened to Ace and Luffy. Mainly because Luffy has always been there for each of the crew during tough times, but because of Kuma separating the crew, they were unable to be there with him.
