This whole arc is so fun - I love seeing old characters coming back into the fold. Luffy teaming up with Crocodile and Jinbei is so awesome! It's a very interesting combination, I always thought of Crocodile as my favorite "bad guy" character and Jinbei as my favorite "good guy" character.

I think you miss understood Shillow is not twice as strong as Magellan he was twice as effective becuse Magellan worked only 4 hours a day while Shillow worked full days.They are about equally strong!
