I wasn't referring to criticism of the movie itself, that's perfectly normal. The campaign of vitriol launched against it and Larson in particular had very little to do with the quality of the movie and much more with anti-feminist/inclusive sentiment. Hell, the whole thing kicked off because Larson dared to suggest that the majority of professional movie critics being cis white dudes isn't representative of the people they write their reviews for and that perhaps there should be some diversity there to better reflect that. People lost their shit over it. Some not great stuff, some really great stuff though. Just less consistent. To be fair though even not good in MCU terms is still, at worst, a 4/10 or a 5/10 movie. Of course if we compare the worst with the quality of Endgame, it is a noticeable drop.

Yeah I agree with this. I've read most of her stuff and it's always been a bit hit-or-miss. I remember liking the Deconnick run.

The hatred this movie got back in the day on the internet was 90% mysoginist drivel which somehow centered around Brie Larson being a bad person. It was complete made-up nonsense perpetrated by the usual suspects. It's a fine movie. It does bum me out that the first female-led Marvel movie isn't a knockout top-tier one, but let's be honest, it's a crime that it took that long to get one in the first place. On to End-Game!

Another fun diversion before Avengers Endgame came out in theaters back then. Still one of the better MCU movies I guess all things considered. 1. Those Kree soldiers had no reservations to use Carol because she wasn't a friend. She was just a means to an end to get what they need. And she was a potential weapon too. 2. Why would Fury page ask Captain Marvel for help? After Carol was "unleashed" she became on the one most powerful MCU heroes out there, that's why! She deflected space warheads and destroyed an entire fleet of fighter space ships! 3. Carol said only for emergencies! Guess Loki and the invasion of earth wasn't a big enough emergency. And Fury didn't know about Thanos and the stones.

The movie is totally fine and I like Brie Larson. I just think the MCU, like the comics, have not done a good job figuring out how to use Captain Marvel.
