Would you rather spend 1% of your resources on a device that can put your siblings out of their misery, however unlikely it is to be used, which would also encourage the more foolhardy of them to put themselves more at risk, or would you rather use that 1% to reduce the risk to them further? Not saying it doesn’t have merit, just that it’s probably most useful during very specific operations when ants are forced to leave the safe zone. But those tend to be the most powerful ants, and thus the safest counterintuitively.

"Predictably, it explodes itself rather than get caught." I was gonna ask, why dont the ants have suicide collars or something around their necks? I know that "dying for the colony" zealots have been mostly stomped out except for Leroy's squad, but surely this is a bit of an exception, if a single ant getting caught and corrupted could lose...everything. And its not like they're unfamiliar with the tactic, if its standard slug operating procedure. (S.SL.O.P?)
