This is going to be a long comment. I remembered something like this: Elsbeth was used as a blackmail target by the Three of them to pressure Tyron. Personally, I don't care if Tyron and Elsbeth end up together as a couple, as friends, as rivals, or as enemies, as long as it's well grounded in story. Tyron has asked for help and exchanged favors with all of his patrons; but exactly what they want from him is a mystery. What the vampires want from him and what the Abyss wants from him can be surmised, though I wouldn't say for sure what they expect him to convert to. But what the Three Elder Gods want, personally, eludes me, and every assumption I have is just as likely as any other theory I've come up with. How depressing is your world, not really. Souls, as I understand them, are the only part of us that "survives" after we die, and thinking about them having such horrible fates is simply melancholy. Those not offered to the Abyss or consumed by vampires end up in a place Dove describes as hell.

Enjoyed the chapter, but could use a little tightening up of who's POV this is from. It bounced around a bit between seeming to be from Tyron and then from Elsbeth and then back to Tyron...just a little jarring.

Poor dove lol

Greyg

Would be cool twist, but the guy was said to be a magick prodigy with a passion for it similarly to Tryon while the messenger seems to look down upon it, as a practice he likely existed before the rifts and magick similarly to the dark gods i get zero i was once a mortal vibes from the messenger

Gonvas

Could the Messenger be the fallen god? Reading this chapter, I couldn't help think that.

Dove. He'll probably go with Dove.

He is seeking a personal boon to survive the realm of the dead. Do you have any idea what will happen to the person I take with me? They won’t survive the process. Far from it!” Besides, I have another candidate in mind for the role.” So it seems whoever is selected will end up undead so this boon transfers harm to this other person keeping him alive. So what was the point on connecting this to the students chapter and georg’s outburst. I can’t think of who he would sacrifice for this boon very few characters stick out as disposable. I had thought getting elisabeth involved happened due to Georg’s attitude but that doesn’t seem to be the case feels off to me
