I'd love to keep it linear and go for option one, but the second option is just way too compelling to pass up.

Phew! I thought we were voting between their first longer conversation and the moment she realizes Grant can't be compelled. I think it's got to be the second option, personally. The escape might be interesting, but we've already gotten most of the details of her plan in existing flashbacks, and we know roughly what is going on in her head during that time. Their first longer conversation however, seems like something you could add an incredible amount of depth to with the addition of her perspective.
