You talked about people who enlist and how difficult this decision is… I have friends who went to defend their country (Ukraine) and it was such bizarre and grim experience to see them go. I will never be able to comprehend what it’s like to be in their shoes :/

Definitely - it was something Mom and Dad didn't fully understand at the time - they were 21-year-old kids from Kansas away from home for the first time. So I don't think they fully understand what the protests were about other than "Yankee go home." The fact that it was still happening when you were there shows how tenacious and proud the locals are.

Dad had orders for Vietnam in 1968 but at the last minute was stationed in Okinawa instead - Mom was able to go with him and that was where the twin and I were born. They lived off base in married housing and there were times Mom was advised not to go anywhere by herself due to protests, but for the most part folks were friendly - shop owners seemed to love the "round eye babies" as they called us.

Great show! But very brutal - in many ways more so than BoB. Will be interesting to watch with you! There are some great performances. (ETA: Made my comment right before you said some folks say it's rougher than BoB!)
