I‘m so excited for your take on the book because you have such a nuanced and in depth reading of the characters in the show (which I adore so so much). So seeing you react to the source material and how it is different to the show and how you feel about the different changes is something I‘m looking forward to. Since I share a lot/all of your opinions on the show I would love to see if we agree on the book as well! Also it will be so much fun if you rewatch the series and spot the quotes that made it directly from the page onto the screen, right?

i recommend watching the movie before getting into the book!!! i watched the movie as a kid so when i got into the book after finishing the show i used that more as a reference, the show def changed alot and it was def for the better! jumping into the book with only the show as a reference would be too much to take in i fear lmfao. i personally wasn't a huge fan of the book, book louis is a very bland character, especially in contrast to show louis... it's still worth reading though, especially if you plan on reading the next few books which are miles better (but if you don't want spoilers that may not happen anytime soon lol)

Be aware, the show took some pretty heavy liberties and changed some pretty significant aspects of the book.

Watching season 1 and 2 (don't read the book before you watch season 2 because you'll have spoilers) and THEN reading the first 3 books before the next season comes out. That is the right move, I know it's maybe a lot but we have probably 2 years before season 3 comes out so...believe me! 😂

I love that book so much! Like other have said it’s different but they’re still so good in their own ways. It was the first book I had ever read that challenged me on bigger questions about god and faith and how we connect to one another

It's very different to the show I gotta say. They did change a good bit but it's still very enjoyable. The Vampire Lestat is my favourite of the books though

Things aren't exactly the same in the book and on the show. The writers took liberty to change, add and omit things. Anne Rice laid out how she wanted the show to go. Everything is not written in stone.

Hahaha yes! I also went out and bought the IWTV + The Vampire Lestat! I read IWTV when I was a kid but now it almost feels like reference/research material for me. I haven't read The Vampire Lestat yet but there's no way I'm going to be able to hold off on continuing the story until Season 3 comes out so that one is getting read super soon.

Unintentionally in high school, I read book #2 first (a friend recommended it and lent it to me, saying it's the best in the series). As you would expect, it colored my opinions about book #1 when I finally read it! I still believe book #2 is Anne Rice's magnum opus. I'm just praying they adapt it as well as they did book one!

This show consumed my life earlier this year. I also decided recently I was going to read the books after finishing season two. Finished the first recently. It was so hard to picture Louis as anyone but Jacob Anderson lol. Love your IWTV reactions!
