If you react to the other movies, know that this is a prequel lol. coming from someone who was very apprehensive about the Hobbit movies. once you get into them you'll love them

Bilbo gives Frodo his sword when Frodo is in Rivendell for the first time. So yeah its the same sword

yeah the hobbit is definitely fun to watch but its not nearly as good and timeless as the lotr trilogy(imo). Also good to remember that the hobbit was really a childrens tale, with bits that feel fairytale-like, whereas lotr was a more grim and (young)adult book. When I read the Hobbit myself I much better understood Peter Jacksons descisions in the storytelling (like the goofyness of the dwarves) in the hobbit. Also Peter Jackson admitted to kinda be "winging it" with the hobbit because he took over the project from another directior and there wasn't much time to prepare like they had with lotr. Just adjust your expectations and you wont be dissapointed with the next movies (the second is my fav). I like coming back to the hobbit but Lotr never fails to blow my mind and make me cry

Disclaimer: I left this reaction ultimately feeling some disappointment. there are things i really enjoyed but somethings that felt very " samey" to me keep in my i havent been enriched with all the lore of the books and some of the easter eggs and things like that go over my head...so just dont hate me haha
