It wasn't the easiest death, and I was with him every moment of the journey – and it has affected me deeply. I was already in a poor mental headspace with personal concerns, and his passing really just laid it all bare. Buuuut, his passing also changed the way I think about the show.
My dad was like a surrogate father for a lot of people who never knew what it was like to have one of their own. He was supportive to a degree that made me who I am today. His words and thoughts made change in the world, one person at a time, and because of this he left the world a better place than he found it.
Because of you, I will absolutely continue the show. It is my way of trying to leave the world better than I found it. For every person who gave me thanks, or shared their pain, or told me how the show had a real-world impact on their lives – you people allow me to do this thing that starting now, will help ME heal.
I had recorded a new episode before he passed and I will have it available for you as soon as possible. I love and thank you all.
FINAL THOUGHT: for those of you who only JUST joined, man, you picked a weird time, but I appreciate it all the same, and we'll be back to less serious/WAY more serious content by the new year.

I love you back! I genuinely mean that too! Believe it or not, your in my thoughts almost everyday, and not just in a "where the hell's my next episode?!" kinda way. More like "Man, I love this dude and I really hope he's doing okay" kinda way. Especially after news like this... and your laptop dying... and your car dying. Hot damn man, when it rains it pours, and right now it looks like you've got your own personal storm cloud just following you around. You definitely don't deserve that! I hope the sun comes out and things swing in the other direction for you soon! I just wish there was more I could do to reciprocate for all the joy you've brought to my life!
Trauma + time, right? I'm glad I'm there for you. I'm glad it helps. I know what it feels like to feel so low you can barely function. This show has really become a home for people like us. Who would have thought.

Just wanted to let you know that your show has helped me get through a tough few years. When I’ve felt like I was too miserable to laugh, your podcast has brought me laughter, every damn time. Well-researched history + sophomoric humour is definitely my cheat code! Thank you for all your work.
Sometimes it can be easier with "internet strangers". We can interact openly in a way I might censor myself with family. My whole life has revolved around trying to spare people pain. Here, I am less likely to cause anyone pain because of that little extra bit of space and relative anonymity. My father used to send love to the people in his life everyday. I feel the same way about you. I have a genuine love for you, all of you. I can't help myself.
