i was doing it with a Tank Mainchar, Hexleather Cait and Pyromancer Brienne, beat her on 3 out of 5 tries, on normal difficulty

Level is not the only indicator of strength. Coming back with a different power/equipment loadout and party composition is a good strat if you hit a roadblock. The easiest solution is to focus on healing Calise and let her tank and spank; you just need to get rid of the nasty damage-over-times she gets.

If you've done her first quest, the Next Step dialogue should reappear in her talk options and that starts the quest (but it isn't tracked in the Journal) and she'll tell you to meet her at the Steps of Sorra in the far north of the Undermountain.
