Poll/Feedback Query: User Experience
🕑 Added 2020-07-30 14:28:29 +0000 UTCIf you've been following Fen's blog, you probably know that we (I still work part-time on TiTS. Free time is for losers) are working on updating the TiTS UI/UX. Since Gedan's basically rebuilding the game from scratch anyway to escape the death-spiral of Flash, we're taking the opportunity to modernize the user interface and controls. Probably the biggest change that's been floated is taking the movement buttons and rest/investory/masturbate and moving them off the button tray at the bottom and onto their own dedicated icons on the sidebar under the map.
So, since FenCo's doing that, I figured I'd ask you guys: is there anything in CoC2's User Interface or User Experience -- in terms of button placement, user feedback, controls, that sorta thing -- that you've had issues with or would like to see improved? We don't necessarily need or want to change things up if everyone's having a good time with what we have, but if TiTS is changing things around we might as well see if people have any issues in CoC2 they want resolved at the same time!
Also, since Patreon lets me do polls on text posts: tell me about the way you primarily play the game: do you mostly click around with the mouse, use the keyboard for everything, or do you finger buttons on mobile?

I used to use mouse, but I've had to switch to keyboard due to tendinitis in my right arm making mouse uncomfortable.
IraMorti
I prefer mouse. I have tried keyboard as well as screen tapping on mobile. But I find it is easy to accidentally pick an option that way if the next screen layout is similar. Don’t know if anyone else has had that problem. Mouse just solves that problem for me lol
Alex Balthazor
I use the keyboard for movement and combat, and the mouse for everything else.

Mostly play on mobile, but when I'm on desktop or use a Bluetooth keyboard, then it's keyboard shortcuts as much as it's possible.
RaozSpaz
I use both mouse and keyboard. Just depends on whats comfortable at the time. I also play on my phone. Im a bit of mixture of them all XD
Daniel Page
Same as legojohn, I use both methods, but I rely on the keyboard for little stuff.
Ryan Breggie
Lol no worries then. Thanks for the reply! Y'all are doing great.
legojohn
I play with the mouse but also frequently use the keyboard shortcuts.
BobDaPony
I have to agree with M like most of my more graphical games. It's a balance between Mouse and keyboard. move around by keys and inventory management and other things by mouse
Savin
That would require rewriting the entire game, so no :P
Balaknightfang
More. Sex. Also, the "past" talk isn't one of the foursome requirements.
M
By now, it's a balanced mix between mouse and keyboard.
Blood Raven
I've sucked her dick, been fucked up both chutes, and asked her questions for nearly 90 days. No luck.
LonewolfCavalry
same here though more pc than android
Ryan Breggie
My only request would be an option to change the in game reference of the player character from "You" to "*insert characters name*". Having my characters referenced to as "You" can sour the mood when Im playing a character that I dont build after my personal interests. For example: When I make a submissive character, having them referred to as if they were me is jarring, when I just want to read about a cute sub getting teased/fucked/whatevs.
Lazy Mesa
i use both mouse and keyboard depending on whether i'm skipping over stuff for farming and such or actually reading the content
Vysirez
I marked mobile, but I use my tablet, so still finger taps
Balaknightfang
Have to have more sex with her.
Blood Raven
I play with mouse, but I use keyboard as well when I have to make long movements across space i've already been across. Still trying to find that caravan again, also Evelyn's "Past" option is permanently grayed out on my game and I have no idea why meaning no threesome for me.
Irish sparky
I primarily play coc2 and tits on my android phone. I am happy with it currently, the only thing I would like is the image packs maybe being introduced to mobile and having a way to expand the images when you want to see them during scenes.
Sithic Knight
Ditto.
Unkown Dealer
I use all of the above
Fatherhoosie
I am the same way
Akalonion
I navigate with WASD and use the mouse for everything else, usually. I'd say maybe 35-45% of the time, Im using keyboard for everything when my right hand is busy with... a thing...
Jonathan Lambert
Mostly mouse, keyboard for when I'm farming in an area and just want to move quickly.
Dorado Pulido
I had no idea those were even there until now!! At least on my UI they are very hard to see. Nice to finally know this is a feature though.
legobrak
Same here

I use a mix of controls to play. Wasd as well as the mouse, depending on if on my laptop or not.
Balaknightfang
There's like five. Right below the menu buttons on the bottom right
Dick Rick
Mouse for all menu-interactions, arrow keys to scroll text.
Christopher Simmons
I do mouse, i should try to use key boards if i can
Upcast Drake
There is already a 5 page history. That's what the back and forward arrows above the menu buttons do.
Upcast Drake
double-tap and long-tap should both cause the tooltips to stay up even when you move your finger away
Thaewyn
Aside from controls, I think maybe the only 'UX Issue' I've thought of is the possibility of clicking or tapping 'Next' one too many times for whatever reason. Having a single page of 'buffer' of "what just happened" to be able to look back to (but not interact with, of course) could be beneficial.
GeyserGod
I use a combination of keyboard and mouse in equal measure with slight shifts depending on game type and action requirements.
Fox McQwerty
dude same.
Stryth
I mostly use the mouse for everything, except when I'm selling a lot of stacks of the same stuff, also when i'm searching in an area for a specific encounter, and want to move back and forth between 2 tiles.

* Ability Swapping : Depending on the area being explored/mined for resources, I like to tweak skills to match party composition. For efficiency purposes I will almost immediately jump to my mouse to make those changes and speed thru the different abilities available. I’d say I’m 50/50 on if I am jumping to the mouse on the party swap. * Journal/Quest : Besides quests that have urgency I never complete a quest so jumping over to the journal and quest log I’m using the mouse and seeing what I need to do next. It isn’t uncommon to spend several hours gathering transformation regents and decide to continue with quests to have to open journal and figure out what is needed to be done. * Load/Save : As I’m mostly using Save/Load feature before key story quests or one off fights, I like to save and then iterate thru several of the party options. Again I’m utilizing the mouse to do this than keyboard to quickly reload the game and make a different attempt.
E the Weasel
I tend to use the keyboard for moving around, especially in areas where i don't have to open new paths via 'explore', and mouse for everything else.

All I ask is that you keep the ability to highlight and copy text in to the clip board so reader programs like Speakonia work. Without that I will not be able to play these games due to a reading problem I have.
Night Locke
keyboard controls if I am spamming through content, i.e. grinding for levels, mouse for playing normally
Shandrys
TiTS allows to select "Back" option (which is on G button) buy hitting on Space too. Would be really nice to have such option in CoC2 as well. As when playing on WASD - you need to put up four fingers to be able to hit G button with your forefinger.

Improvement: 1. Break out Party Members into a Party Menu. Currently not intuitive that its under the "Character" tab as that's not standard for RPGs and also that's singular. Might also open up things like "relieving" Etheryn and Brienne out in the wilds (possibly exposing you to ambush. 2. Powers Menu needs cleaning up. Its awkward to use and visually unclear what's going on. Ideally I'd like to see something where the "wheel" of available powers is gone and you only see your equipped ones. Those have only basic information. On a click, hover, or select and clicking a button "Examine" the detailed information is displayed, maybe in a popup that greys out the rest of the menu screen (clicking anywhere restores original view). On a double click or a select and clicking "Change" the menu grays out and only then does the wheel comes up for selection. 3. Storage limit indicator. New features: 1. Pure wishlisting, but in SO MANY of these kinds of games, I wish that clicking on the map auto navigates to that point. I know that's out of the scope of this because it requires coding in pathfinding and selectable maps spaces, not just UI changes, but there it is. 2. Just a complete revamp of alchemy. It's awkward to use, split between multiple screens and unclear what the end effects are. At the very least a section in the Codes that's your character taking notes about new combinations and end results.
tawnyko
I use the keyboard specifically for movement and the mouse for everything else :)
Balaknightfang
out of curiosity, what times and circumstances?
Nyla Amour
I do all three. If I don't feel like sitting at my desk cause I want to lay in bed, I use my phone. And if I am on the pc version I may use a combination of both depending on whether I am playing for fun, or for "fun" x3
YonderBubbles
Honestly i really like the way it is. I mainly use my keyboard and once i decorated all the needed keys, like j, k, and l i was good to go. Maybe if there were an assigned key to "save to file", but as it is right now, i'm pretty happy already.
Red Panda Seven
Although I mostly do it with the keyboard on the PC, i do find there are times and circumstances that force me to switch to the mouse that breaks the flow of playing.
Reasonably Satanic
Keyboard for moving between squares and mouse for everything else
Crystal Poxon
I play on mobile phone and actually made sure to buy a larger one than usual to fit the game screens on better for both games. My only noticeable issue is that on the shop screen the box actually hides the "+" button so I either need to click buy one at a time or click backwards with a minus. I've only really had issues on the shop screens and its not a massive problem. But just something in the settings to let me change the box size on mobile would make things so much easier if its possible...ah! one other that I just thought. When I'm trying to read the description to an option, it can be very hard to get the text to appear on mobile without accidentally selecting the option. I'm not sure what could be done to make that more reliable for mobile players. But these are my only issues <3 Goodluck with any changes you decide to make <3

If you design the interface for tablet/mobile, mouse and keyboard users aren't affected that much. It would be awesome if all buttons are labeled with their keyboard shortcuts. I don't think all of them are right now.
Shawn McNeal
I tend to use keyboard for movement, but the rest of the interface is mouse
Dalek2150
All the above
Red Scare
I don’t think so, I’ll have to check that out.
Nevyn
As way to many people might say, mouse and keyboard about equally, but depends on how familiar I am with something, if its a new scene or area I use the mouse more to take it slow, and if I know where I am going its the keyboard to run through it.
FalconHalo
I'm not sure if this counts, but it always seemed strange to me that the PC can't use their fists or equip a new weapon from inventory when disarmed. It's annoying when my warrior character can do virtually nothing to contribute to the fight for a few round just because the weapon they were holding got taken away.
Savin
Have you tried the new sorting UI added last patch?
Red Scare
The Powers tab is kinda funky even on desktop, I feel like there could be a better way to navigate through and select powers for slots.
Alex Xeno
To be totally honest... I didn't even realize you could play with mouse...
Tales
Same here.
greyfox643
The few times I so use pc, I stick to just a mouse. But I'm mainly on mobile
Belyphoss
I to tend to use the keyboard and mouse equally
Delkion
My only real quibble about the UI is the Powers tab, on mobile the boxes get cut off for a few of the longer ones even when expanded. Otherwise I don't have any real complaints that jump out at me.
Azzhat
Same.
Damian
Flip and flop between mouse and keyboard, therefore other is the choice.
Red Scare
I use keyboard for navigation mostly, and mouse for combat and scenes.
Joe
I put down other since I use the keyboard and mouse about equally.
