The tensor cores were involved in the raytracing from Nvidia's way of describing it, though without actually having a card on the bench and see what's under the hood, it's hard to get an accurate statement. But so far the RTX is looking to be substantially better at rendering. Though highly doubt many would go for the 2080 TI with the pricetag on it.

I do not think that they will ever do it but they already promised to support the ray tracing module from new RTX cards.

Ah, that makes the selection rather one sided. Has there been any discussion from the devs of your rendering software if their program will deal or support tensor cores?

I use CUDA based renderer. Unfortunately it works only with Nvidia cards(

Hedrah

If not the Nvidia, gonna look at the AMD's Professional cards then?

This is the main reason why I have not bought a pair of 1070ti/1080 yet. I'm waiting for the first tests to appear so that I could draw conclusions about the advisability of buying them. The main speed requirements for my renderer are the amount of memory and the number of CUDA cores. RTX, according to rumors, they will not be very much.
