AND -- Fishburne stayed in character on and off the set during filming. He was Ike 24/7. He even dreamt like Ike. 😂 You can imagine he got a lot of dirty looks on set, too.

Tina Turner was heavily involved with the making of this film. From wardrobe to rehearsals. Tina also re-recorded new versions of the songs for Angela to lip sync. And she approved the darker scenes in this film. A lot of that stuff had to really happen.

Loved this reaction, MJ! One thing I loved most was seeing your shirt… Such a declaration that is needed to be told to a lot of people who feel like they have to tolerate certain things and don’t deserve better. A tough movie to get through, but a powerful message.

At the time, Ike complained and said this wasn’t entirely accurate. The funny thing is he never denied beating Tina and even admitted it pretty shamelessly.
