Actually Emme this is your( 5th maybe 6th) regeneration. Paul McGann to john Hurt in the mini-episode and John Hurt into Christopher Eccleston at th end of the 50th. That takes you to 5, there is also 10 into 10, normally, I wouldn't count it. But it was raised in the episode as to why he was at his limit. So possibly 6.

I think the tone shift from the seasons themselves took a bit to get used to, he is definitely a little darker in presentation but hes like the scarecrow from wizard of Oz to me lol

As you said no other show forces you to deal with loss like Dr Who. Seven seasons so far & when you add Doctors & companions we've lost main characters on seven different occassions. Peter Capaldi up next, well known in the UK for starring in a show called The Thick It created by the creator of US comedy series Veep. He was in a rockband with former Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson & is the uncle of singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi, appearing in the british version of the music video for his song Someone You Loved

The song used when Clara reunites with the very old 11th doctor is called ‘Four Knocks’ the same song that played when the 10th doctor sacrifices himself to save Wilf. Also the 11th doctor’s main regeneration theme is the song called ‘infinite potential’.

I personally think Eccleston, Tennant, and Smith had some of their finest moments in the show doing the last minutes of their respective Doctor(s). This one really got me though, mostly because of Pond... what a send off.

Peter calpadi was the Roman in a much earlier episode. He’s also a huge fan of doctor who. Not sure if you missed it but he had a tiny cameo in the 50th anniversary episode. I was so sad when Matt smith left He’s my second favourite doctor of new who. Peter’s era is fantastic and over time I have appreciated his doctor a lot more. It took a few episodes of his doctor to get used to him. For Peter to be a fan of the show to end up being the doctor has to be a dream come true for him.
