Honestly this one is a contender for my favourite episode in the first half of the show. So much plot and character development, we finally get to see a homonculus killed (at what cost?), and we get to see just how cold Mustang can be for someone whose title is "the flame alchemist". It's a brutal scene, Al's armor body gets completely shredded, Havoc's survival is in question, Barry dies, and even Hawkeye's rigid professionalism can't hide just how overcome with turmoil she is. Mustang shows up covered in blood, limping in and holding his wound, and is a hair's breadth away from being skewered by lust, but hey, they won... right? Of course, this brutality makes perfect sense. It's the law of equivalent exchange. If you want a win...
