series 5 really was great. i think david tennant is still my favorite - i just adore his acting but matt smith really warmed up to me by now too

I'm so glad you enjoyed this finale! :) I love this season so much. 2 things for you: The whole "gotcha" line is a reference to the second episode of the season (with the star whale) where Amy tells the Doctor "gotcha" at the end of the adventure because she "figured him out". :) And they've referenced a few times in the New-Who that he may have stolen or borrowed the Tardis. I won't say anything about episodes you haven't seen (in either past or future) but Eccleston and Tennent have made passing remarks about having borrowed it. But this is definitely the first time the Doctor would have confirmed it with his story to Amy. Hope that helps!

When these were airing at the time, all of us like you weren't sure how the show would go on post David Tennant, Matt Smith was unknown and we had no idea what would happen. But series five is so, so good and Matt crushes it, Amy and Rory are incredible companions and this season really has such a soft spot for many because it showed Dr Who would still be strong after Tennant. What a journey!
