i can tell u that the kids are using ai to cheat RIGHT NOW but it's mostly chat gpt creating shitty essays or short answer responses that teachers (who check assignments/care) would easily recognize as chat gpt. the only way to make it work is to rewrite and tweak the ai generated one to sound less bad which takes almost the same amount of time as simply writing the assignment originally. it's ridiculous.

In elementary in grade three, absolutely hated homework and taught myself to write very very small (4-6 lines a line on lined paper) and for math class I wrote a full page of fake answers numbered with fake work to show but not correlating to any specific answers or questions and would continually show them the same page over and over. It worked for almost the full year but got caught towards the end. Moved schools next year, kept the page and tried to use it at this other school and got caught immediately and got put into the Fish bowl (what we called the detention room) 🙃
