Slavic languages are similar but not the same, as a Ukrainian I might pick up a "vibe" from a Russian conversation but I wouldn't understand it fully. I don't know Russian and I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with a Russian speaker only knowing Ukrainian. Also, cusswords are not universal, the sheer variety is amazing if u know Polish Ukrainian, and Belarusian. The more Slavic languages you know the bigger arsenal of very specific cusswords applicable to almost 3 or 4 scenarios.
