Technologies influence can't be ignored - I am disturbed frequently by what kids at age 7 know about (sex, violence, sexism, racism, etc) because they have unrestricted internet access. That part is the part that I feel like really sets this generation of kids apart from others and why we can't rely on them to 'grow up and get better' like Ludwig says - their psyches are a whole different beast than even kids 10 years ago!

Not really on the kids at this age, but you can't ignore it and write it off as an age thing, bc at some point somebody needs to teach them how to act. Lots of parents expect teachers to be the solution to behavioral problems but I feel from first hand experience it needs to start at home!

Also plenty of kids whose parents don't have the time to watch them enough, don't have community to help them, immigrant families whose cultures aren't understood by the masses, etc. It's a deep hole!

Not really their own fault at that age, a lot of parents who expect screens to parent for them/don't tell their kids no ever/don't teach kids to be respectful or model respect to other human beings. Super easy to tell the difference between kids who actually have consequences at home vs those who clearly can get away with whatever.

I think saying the kids are fucked puts the blame on the kids rather than the system that was built by the adults who criticize them. I do agree the kids are fine though, I have 3 younger cousins they are much smarter emotionally and intellectually and have a lot more opportunities to pursue artistic passions.
