I've been in a ploy relationship with a primary partner and a secondary partner and literally no amount of communication and expectation setting about the casual nature of the relationship can prevent it going to shit when the secondary partner falls in love with you and starts to want more. Its not impossible to make it work if you find the right people but I wouldnt recommend it.
