Me and 10 friends were just in Japan for 2 weeks and a lot of us are Yard/Ludwig fans and I swear our trips overlapped it woulda been crazy to see you guys. The only way I've been able to justify my trinket slop as I'm gotten older, was to get into model kits. Once I had to build and paint my trinkets. Buy the display case and suddenly I'm getting back into photography again. Because I want my little mechs to look cool on my desktop background. In the end being able to say "I made this" even though the box had Bandai slapped on the side of it. Doesn't feel as bad, as putting a sealed box on the shelf I'm never going to touch again.

As a trinket enthusiast and maximalist, most of my trinkets, I have purposely only had/kept if I didn't buy, or its art, or I will use. I have a rock collection, I have a collection of dead flowers and feathers, but I also own a bunch of "made in ___" plastic stuff hanging on my wall that I found on the ground or was given from a friend. For me the difference for trinkets and like a painting or more traditional art is that I have no problem with the trinkets but I do have a problem with someone who values an awesome Zelda amiibo more than like a beautiful painting because the amiibo is just inherently lower effort and less thought provoking. I love the Zelda games but it’s gross the way people think a mass produced piece of plastic is the coolest thing in the world
