I feel like film nerds, such as Nick, usually make fun of people who complain about shows being too boring because of there pacing. I'm surprised he felt that way about Severance which I have always loved because while some shows spend an entire season to work out certain plot points, Severance usually ties them up in a few episodes. So much crazy shit has happened and the show only has 16 episodes total so I don't know how anyone could think it's slow. But then he said "issaKai" and now I'm back on board

yeah i get why the first episode can be a bit rough. but honestly i've read far worse alien abduction scenes in fiction. It adds suspense, but the 'gobble your schlong' line kinda gives the rest of the chapter an absurdist lens for me. lud honestly gave just about the worst description for it possible lmao, not the most stunning review!

i had parosmia after covid and it unfortunately lasted a while but eventually went away. something that helped was picking something u know the scent of well (spices, essential oils, etc.) and closing ur eyes and trying to remember what it should smell like while ur smelling it. ik this sounds weird but im pretty sure this is like the doctor recommended method of doing it lol.

I'm caught up to the manga and I can say all that ends pretty early on. It was just done early on when the mangaka didn't have a direction for the story and that kind of shit is a cheap way to generate buzz. Also to what you said it isn't really sexualized. Nudity isn't inherently sexual and can represent vulnerability, especially paired with the alien abduction mythos of probing and what not.

I'll say it, Dan da Dan is a great show. First ep, kind of skeevy, but nothing ultimately happens. Makes your skin crawl though, which is the point. But, character interactions are well written, action goes crazy, the lead is a girl which is rare in a shonen anime, and yeah, Ep 7 will make everyone cry. It's fucking heartbreaking.

Jesus christ Lud. Dandadan is a coming of age story. A kid who loves aliens and believes in them. A girl who lives with her grandmother whose a psychic. She believes in ghost. They end up meeting and make a bet to go to a place each has seen sightings of their respected belief. Only to find out both are real. The boy has to save the girl from the aliens and she has to... get his balls back from the spirit he found. The coming of age has to deal with awkwardness of sex and being a kid and all that jazz. Japan could present these things more, suggestively, but alas they regrettably show it often. I on the other hand understand people not wanting to watch the show because it does show the kids in often suggestive phrasing. But it really is just a whacky time that's not to serious. If it's not your cup of tea then I'd suggest Mob Psycho 100. A coming of age story with supernatural elements much like Dandadan.
