Fun Pythagoras fact: he also invented the modern system of tuning we use for guitar and piano. If you were to perfectly tune an instrument to the major scale in one octave, it would actually be out of tune in a different key and octave. It’s called “temperament” and has to do with frequency intervals not perfectly matching up as the range of Hz changes. Pythagoras said hey, let’s just make sure all the perfect fifths are in tune, and that’s why the bottom of a piano sounds the same as the top :)
