really enjoyed the segment abt moral culpability. i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and struggling with mitigating the kind of.. inherent harm of being a us tax payer & deciding which war criminal to vote for etc etc (don’t “that friend who’s too woke” me 🙏😔).. i dont have solid thoughts on it other than a general hatred for the military industrial complex & the average voter’s inability to effectively Not contribute to it but i think this was a very well-spoken discussion of it & i appreciate that a lot :)

I'm in engineering, and not mechanical or aerospace, I didn't think I'd ever be in this position, but I totally feel for you. The company I got a job with, I knew nothing about the companies they're contracted with until after I got the job, and didn't know about the problematic one for 3 months. I would bet a lot of money we both have contracts with a certain missile manufacturer. I just try not to touch any of the work, and am interviewing for other positions.

I was in a similar position with an aerospace job I had that made components to THAAD (used in Isreals iron dome), I wasn't a part of that team, I made commercial plane safety parts, but even making direct profit to a place that did that shit in the same building fucked me up. I think they basically hit the nail on the head, just quit on good terms and you'll be fine, tho DoD related jobs generally pay the best, and I've seen companies hide their ties to DoD or why they comply with ITAR. A place that pays a lot more than their competition generally has been my red flag to check deeper into a companies ethics.
