On cults there's a great book called Conspirituality, its about the structure of modern cults and the yoga/health awareness/holistic medicine to alt-right pipeline but it also kinda works as a guide for how to run a cult. It's an interesting read, all three authors used to be in some sort of cult or cult adjacent group, one guy has major joint problems because he was in a yoga cult and his teacher basically told him that if he doesn't stretch more his soul would be damned so he ruined all of the cartilage in his body. since 1789 there have been around 16 congressman that have been shot, but a good third of them were shot in duels and wars back when we were a REAL country that still did that shit. theres been 12511 congressmen total since then, giving them a roughly 0.013% or 1/100 shooting rate. However, recent history shows that in the time frame between 1968-2011 (the best modern data i could find without doing a ton of math), 5 congresspeople out of the ~2279 congressmen who served during that time period were shot (6 if you count a plane being shot down) giving them a rate of about 1/500. in that same period, 168 milly people were born and around 1 milly of them got shot AND KILLED by guns, so around 1 in 150 people who were born were shot and killed (closer to like 1/300-400 without suicides) so in recent history, being born makes you more likely to be fatally shot than being in congress and getting shot at all by 1.4-2.5x. the math is perfect and if you try and correct me i will put my fingers in my ears and say lalala! god i love adderall.
