to my fellow indian brother: i can def relate to wanting to know if what you are going through w ur parents is valid. being part of an asian household with asian values means that it is hard to use western media/family culture as a reference and at least for me, my parents have done their fair share of gaslighting and stating "at least we aren't as bad as this, we provide for you and you live a good life" etc etc... so much so that I find myself feeling like i'm "doing too much" or "being sensitive" when i'm really reacting normally. therapy is great for this because having an outside, experienced mental health perspective can help u identify what's what as well as just having smn to talk to. not to say that your situation isn't unique: it certainly is and your mom seems crazy and hard to deal with. please don't feel like you are behind your peers in life: life's a multifaceted thing and you are certainly far ahead of the curve in your career, now you can use that to create opportunities to develop your personality. wish u the best of luck!
