I was in primary school when South Park came out and it was a huge deal because of all the swearing and adult themes. I remember being on holiday with my mates pushing out the old tin boat and floating off singing "I'm Sailing Away" as Cartman after the first South Park album was released. I absolutely love southpark outside of beavis and butthead its one of the only shows that makes me actually bust out laughing. Gotta say though once Stan's family moves to the farm it feels like the whole formula changes and the show slowly gets harder and harder to watch. The school shooting episode was still hilarious though.

I’m 18 and South Park has kinda always been I thing that people know of but assumed you were an edge lord if you actually watched it. I would watch it every once in a while when it came on but never purposefully do so (Futurama was and still is the better adult cartoon). I think the decline of south park’s youth viewer base is mainly caused by them growing up and more marketable shows to teens coming out (ie Regular show, TAWOG, and Adventure Time) that parents saw as safer for their kids to watch. Also a lot of south parks jokes just don’t hold up anymore
