I love this covid retrospective, It's nice to see that in some environments people were actually able to expand their social lives and get closer with people. I had moved right as covid began and was finishing my last year of high school, going into college, knowing absolutely nobody in both schools. Basically it sucked big dicks, like The Rock size. I was half way into my freshman year of highschool when my school got shut down. That summer was by far one of the best I've experienced simply because everyone was in the same situation as me. But looking back I would 100% go through that all now instead. Covid has had a huge impact on many kids my age and younger.

One of my favorite YouTube creators, F.D. Signifier, just released a video essay on this idea of desirability of men that is really relevant to what Aiden and Slime are talking about. One of the key themes is that the societal picture of a desirable man is much more often than not what is desirable to other men (in an aspirational, not romantic/sexual way) instead of what is actually desirable to women, and this is a consequence of patriarchy. Really good watch, gets lots of perspectives from many races and genders!

The whole discussion about COVID was really nice but it gave me fucking flashbacks cause like they were talking about it happened right in the middle of highschool for me and I fucking destroyed my motivation. We basically stopped school in March and then when I came back for 11th grade a few months later we only had 2 days of school a week. I went from one of the top kids in my grade to failing the most basic ass classes cause I had just lost any semblance of giving a shit. It got a bit better in 12th grade but I'm only really just now recovering in my first year of college which is such shit timing. I don't want to blame it all on COVID because obviously I still could've just not been a dumbass but if it weren't for COVID I seriously think I could've gotten into a top school and gotten some good scholarships relative to where I am now. I got fucked HARD.

Covid cancelled my freshman year musical and it was the first time I ever saw so many of my peers cry in public. It made me so much more emotional for a moment of my life, but then that got repressed due to the lockdown. I didn't have a full year of irl highschool until my junior year, and even then you would see kids just not show up or half of class in masks because they were all near someone that had covid. By no means do I think I had it that bad, but I wanted to share since the idea was mentioned

Hello! Covid started my senior year in high school, and meant that I got no prom, graduation, or any normal things a senior got to do at the end of the year. It also was the first year of college for me, meaning that teachers didn’t know how to work stuff and I basically didn’t do any college things either. It sucked, but like slime, I was a big indoor person who preferred to keep to myself. Still sucks that I basically have had none of the classic college/senior experiences tho :/

Talking about the COVID reminiscing, recently I have been just thinking and looking back with fond eyes on this specific time where my mother and I would just go out to a nature reserve in the middle of COVID, where no one else was around, and we would just walk around. But it was at this time when everyone had to spend so much time in their homes, and getting out of the house felt like this magical thing. It is surreal looking back on that time because of how unique it was. Obviously I could go back and walk around the same area, or people could go back and play Animal Crossing again, but it just isn't the same. It feels strange to look back on such a dangerous and scary time with fond memories, but I cant help but feel like I want to go back to that time and place once again. It really was a once in a lifetime, extremely weird experience.
