I'm way late to comment but regarding the old lady at onsen and being naked in general. Being from Finland, where the sauna culture is such a normal part of the society it always sticks out how sexualized human bodies are in other places. I would guess it's similar in Japan with onsens, that it's super normal to see people naked. I've basically seen my whole extended family, friends and their partners, friends of friends, and bunch of random people naked and no one even thinks about it.
