There's a lot of stuff swirling around Harry Potter. Like obviously there's the "don't support HP/JK with money whatsoever but there is actually themes in the series that are questionable at best. Like in-universe justified slavery, the race of bankers with long noses, the fact that ultimately nothing that is wrong in the world is solved by the end of it except that the largest agent of change in the series (Voldemort) is killed and not even by Harry, but by accident.

I mean that’s very fair, and you are also normal people and I think your perspective as a trans person matters a lot, more than mine or Luds. I’m not going to play the game and I don’t want to support JK Rowling either, but even if they’re both bad I feel like Lud was sort of drawing an equivalence between playing it and taking money. Like, if I learned my friend bought the game I’d be like “oh, that kind of sucks. Wish you wouldn’t do that”, where as if I learned they took money to talk about how good it is i don’t know if I could be their friend anymore. Obviously it’s different when it’s a content creator and not a friend you know personally, and I’m sure being trans gives a new perspective on it, but it was mostly the “these two things are the same” that I was trying to comment on.

it seems like ludwig isn't considering the impact of how tate + ross fans treat people in real time. the idea of pushing it back to what could happen in the future or treating it as a "phase" doesn't help. women and trans people are being treated poorly and discriminated towards now which is more important imo

I started listening to The Yard originally because Gus Johnson got outed as an abusive boyfriend and overall shitty guy, and relistening to Gus & Eddy episodes just felt weird. Desperately needed a replacement for my weekly youtuber banter pod. As a trans viewer my opinion on the Hogwarts game sponsor is that it’s obviously up to you but the game itself contains a lot of racist themes (the bankers and jewish stereotypes) but i don’t think i’d want to watch a stream in which u have to promote a game built off the back of bigotry and a creator who genuinely wants trans people to be exterminated

I think that taking a sponsorship to play Hogwarts would be a little bad. I feel like the whole JK Rowling thing is a really important part of this games cultural existence and taking money from the company to not mention that feels like an endorsement. I don’t think playing it is wrong, you don’t have to agree with all the media you consume, but taking money for it is an endorsement in my opinion, where as buying it is not.

With what Pokimane said, it's already illegal to threaten another human being, whether online or offline since its against the First Amendment so I have no idea why she thought there was no law against online threats. The problem is that the law enforcement and legal system refuse to see online threats as credible as real life threats since there isn't a face attached to it, specifically in regards to the US. With enough time and more people campaign for online threats to be taken seriously, eventually the US Government and many other governments worldwide would take it seriously.
