I think it's actually due to material density. If you hold a marble under an x-ray scan it will resolve quite clearly. X-rays are just very high energy light & therefore more penetrative than visible spectrum light, skin is thin & low density relative to bone, resulting in the bone being imaged. Light is fucking trippy.

So The wavelength of the bone is bigger than the wavelength of the x-ray so it reflects off of that but the wavelength of the skin is smaller than the x-ray

the "god as a watchmaker" theory came out of the romantic era with deism, especially because deism puts an emphasis on finding proof of god in the natural world, which was a key part of romanticism. iirc, it was also a response to puritanism, which obviously dictated—especially to american puritans—that god had a heavy hand in doling out punishments based on your actions. idk, for some reason i'm obsessed with christians and i want to study them like little creatures, so all of this is just in my brain
