hella late but “jiofen” (pronounced jo-fun) was rumored to be the inspiration for spirited away but Miyazaki denied it. it does have a lot of Japanese influence in the architecture and buildings since Taiwan and Jiufen retained a lot of features from japanese colonization. it’s a mountainous area with a shrine, a beautiful night view and traditional architecture. really cool place, it does feel very similar to spirited away and has a very ethereal and otherworldly feeling, definitely recommend a visit

I went to CHAZ/CHOP when it was around [the afternoon of the 2nd shooting (there were either 2 or 3)], and it was super inefficient as a protest but good at spreading art and messages and similar stuff towards building a community around BLM

The streets all smell like piss constantly, the city is covered in trash, the homeless population has skyrocketed.
