Honestly this argument really made me appreciate the pod. I enjoy the genuine conversation of them working through it. At the end when Nick explained the actual issue that Aiden was stuck on, in a non parasocial way, I really related to it. Honestly what Aiden was struggling with is something I do constantly. That urge to have others understand your thinking is pretty overwhelming especially when it only makes the issue worse when in my mind (or just whoever is trying to over explain) I only intended to help the issue. It helps to see and understand the listeners position in that scenario. Also I know its cringe to say non parasocial but I want the point to be about the convo and not the people. The guys are great but that same argument would have helped regardless of who was in the chairs.

Hvac reporting in. Temp is not measured in direct sunlight because the metal of the probe would get way hotter than the air. Also rooms will vary in temps based on the distance from the evaporator coil and how well the ducts are insulated. Doors and vents being open or closed also effects house temp variation. What Nick is sorta getting at is called the Heat index. It charts air temp and humidity in the shade to gauge what temperature it feels like to a human. The air temperature in the shade is the same as in the sun, but like others have said you don't take on the extra solar radiation. That's why your thermostat is usually located on an interior shaded wall in your house, so it only reads the temperature of the air and not the sunlight. If you want to know more about climate data and how it relates to comfort in humans ASHRAE has a ton of data and readings on the topic. As for why you have uneven temperature in your house, it could be lots of reasons, but what is most likely is that you have a standard constant volume furnace with cooling coil attachment in your house. Ludwig's room is, I assume, closest to the furnace/coil, so it cools dramatically in the time it takes to cool the room with the thermostat to the setpoint. You should probably think about some split system zoned units so you can control the temperature of multiple rooms, or put some controllable dampers around the house. Theres a Linus tech tips video about that actually. BUT, he didn't install a bypass in his duct line or install a variable speed motor so I don't know if it turned out well for him. Most weather reports come from ASOS/AWOS locations. The temperature measurement portion comes from a thermometer that is generally placed within a white (or light colored) box in the shade. This means that you are unlikely to experience this exact temperature unless you mimic these conditions. That means in the shade of some trees, it will tend to be cooler than the weather report states. Just how much cooler depends on your environment. However, this means the "official" temperature is closer to what you feel standing in shade than in the sun.
