Ok but it’s dance Gavin dance lmao they’re like if mcr and your local punk band had a child that nobody cares about. In all seriousness that really sucks. Polyphia is a good band but their fans are total nerd about it. Hardcore shows should be fun and wild; spend your time in the mosh and not discussing the 7/8 time signature and complex chords of the opener. I haven’t yet had a terrible concert experience but all my post-Covid shows have been local bands and venues or like more chill concerts like stick figure and drake and the chili peppers, where the biggest negative is the second hand weed smoke. Also call me crazy but this new age hardcore like turnstile kubli khan and dgd is massively underrated

I went to the DGD show in NY and had a similar experience, the guys behind me would *not* shut the hell up for the whole show, especially during the Polyphia set, which was also *my* main reason for going. That was my first concert back, but now I've gone to a few more this month and I gotta say, the crowd vibes have gone down the shitter post-COVID it's ridiculous.

I literally just had a similar experience about the "le redditor" on the plane. I went to a metal concert last week and there was this guy RIGHT behind me with his little group of friends. The band I was there for, Polyphia, opened right before Dance Gavin Dance. This guy was just making snarky comments the entire set every time the lead guitarist walked up to talk on the mic. Guitarist: "It's good to finally be back in Dallas Texas! We have missed you guys so much" Guy behind me: "You guys probably haven't been here in a year and a half, dicks." This kind of shit kept happening. It eventually got to me and I was like, "Dude, They are local. They live here. This is their home stage." After that he remained quiet for the rest of the set.

on the topic of "is Korea okay?", there actually is an issue of wealth inequality that I think gets overshadowed by how popular and powerful they seem as a whole, plus a whole discourse of capitalism, so it's a prominent theme in their media. I'm not eloquent on it, but I learned about as much from the Korean migrants in our area.
