This week in the Forest! #23 PERMANENT RESIDENCE CLOSING THIS MONTH!

We've decided to CLOSE new applications for Permanent Residence at the end of this month.
So if you've been considering it, you've got until May 1st to decide!
We've gotten a lot of folks interested and participating in this, which is awesome. But we wanna keep it manageable while we still have other things to finish up. (It's possible we might re-open for permanent residence again once things are fully finished, but it's not too likely.)
Here's some common questions we get regarding this:
"When would I need to pay everything?"
We still have a ton of production left to do for the main campaign, so patreons will probably have about 2 years before full payment is needed. Maybe more, maybe a bit less.
"If I'm in, and I need to halt payment for a month or so, what happens?"
Nothing. We have your information and total pledges on a chart and in patreon's database. If you need to stop for a bit, it's no worries.
"If I'm currently in the Collab Tier, do I have to worry about this?"
Nope! If you're in, you're in!
"How do we go about setting this up with you?"
For now, just pledge to that tier (Collab Tier 51$)! Soon, we will be adding a discord channel specifically for collab tier critters. We will use that for quickly communicating and planning stuff.
Once the full cast is introduced, we will be reaching out to collab tier patrons to start touching base and figuring out what they might wanna do. We will work closely with you to get your character in our world and fitting nicely! The world is quite flexible so a lot is possible :>
In general, we will probably wait until you're a decent way into funding before we heavily commit too much time into planning or creating assets.

All that said - VISITOR CRITTERS will continue to be open! It's a lot quicker to implement those, and a lot smaller of a price point, so I think that'll still be a dope, manageable way to add a ton of extra life, and have a ton of patreon inclusion to those interested :>! (Visitor critters are much more restricted in their involvement, essentially just idle sprites, portraits, interactions, and that's it)
Once May 1st happens - we will remove access to the 51$ Collab Tier, and we will make a new 50$ Visiting Critter Tier. This will keep our records clean. If you're currently in the Collab Tier but JUST want the visiting critter option, that's no problem either. we'll figure it out.

OK Onto our weekly report! Let's start with a word from Vixel!
4/12 weekly report
Finished troubleshooting and enabling dialogue for all movies in Start Menu > Gallery. I had to update each movie's controller script, load dependent sound effects for typewriter chirps, disable scene skipping with the arrow keys while dialogue is playing, handle dialogue events when the movie is canceled early with Back/Escape, etc.
Got stories and legends working and debugged in Start Menu > Gallery as well! Gotta finish updating the Gallery menu to show them in their own row, but now players can easily rewatch those really hard-to-find dates or gossips they've unlocked.
Due to life-side noise, I DIDN'T make the progress I'd anticipated last week on the new Act 2 quest/story content! :O But I did make a gigantic Kanban (tasks) board with all my outstanding todos. Will be crunching this week to knock a bunch of 'em out!! ^^

On my side I've been jumping full force into the next sex scene! Spoiler alert - it's with Oliver and Bucky :>!
I wrote out some gossips and a date that we haven't been able to implement yet, but it ties in Oliver's lil' "breaking the bridge" conundrum very nicely! Have a sneak peak!

I've also actually gone ahead and started blocking out the first animated scene for Act 3, it's gonna be pretty saucy :> AND be a different kinda narrative that'll be fun to try out! Stoked for it, but no spoilers yet |3
Anywho regarding this current animation - I'm actually gonna try a new clean up workflow with it. I love doing the roughs in aseprite, but I think i'll be trying CSP for clean-up. Vixel and I found a workflow messing with the vector tools that MIIIIGHT be pretty damn sexy. I'm stoked to give it a shot, so we'll see :>!
Part of the animation slog is doing stuff like clean up. Working with a pixel brush isn't exactly super clean every time you make a stroke, so you gotta spend a lot of time doing propper stepping and "pixel design." It's a buncha shit lemme tell ya lmao. BUT having vector paths dictate that and be in control is A LOT cleaner, consistent, and quicker! Clip Studio's UI BLOWS ASS for animation, but hopefully the line workflow is gonna totally outweight that. We'll see!

As in like MLP style pony? We have 1 or 2 interested like that, that I'll likely be slightly revamping to some sorta aesthetic that fits our thing!

Nah you're good! We're assuming folks want permanent, and if they didn't, then it's easy to adjust anyways.
