Sagas being sacrificed is stage-based and adding a counter can't be responded to. So, I'm pretty sure it will be sacrificed after the third chapter resolves regardless of removing a counter.

Re: Sentinel of the pearl trident, I'm pretty sure you can blink a saga with the third chapter on the stack and restart the whole story again.
