The hosts have been raised in areas where chaos was mistaken for love, where they had learned that passion only exists in the presence of conflict. So when things are calm during an episode, it feels like both the hosts and listeners confuse it for emptiness and they grow restless, trying to talk about weird unorthodox topics and let old unhealed habits surface, ultimately masking their grief with talking about movies that weren’t viewed well by the general public. In the end, it’s not really about the movies, it’s about the silence they’re afraid to sit in
