Jeremy Renner is a truly underappreciated talent! You hit the nail on the head there! I remember some criticism of the first Avengers movie about not having him really do anything and it feels like since then, he's been able to showcase his talent every time he does the role! His chemistry with Hailee Steinfeld is great too! They play off each other so well!

I came here to say all that. I love the character of Echo, and Alaqua Cox does such a great job!

Maya Lopez is one of the MCU’s first deaf characters along with Makkari the Speedy Eternal. Jax, meet Alaqua Cox. This is her first acting role ever. A friend of hers sent her a link to a casting call. They were looking for a Native deaf person. She turned it down the first time, but then two other friends sent her the same link. After three months worth of e-mails back and forth, she was cast into this role. She’s also a real-life amputee. They integrated that into her character. However, due to her prosthetic leg there were some kicks that she wasn’t able to execute. Those were left to her stunt double. She also fights with her elbows more than her fists. They had her limit her punching to protect her hands so she can continue communicating with ASL. Alaqua’s real life cousin Darnell Besaw got to portray Maya as a kid. And finally, a little over a year ago Alaqua and her fiancé welcomed their first son into the world.
