Well this was horrifying!! This might be the scariest episode of the entire show! It was cool to see Katara learn a bit more about waterbending…until the end.

That makes so much sense that this would have fallen on Halloween. It felt so creepy! I hadn't noticed that Katara used an earthbending move. What a great detail!

Yes! This show has had so many twists and turns but this took things to a whole new level.

This is also one of my favorite episodes because much like that "There is no war in Ba Sing Se..." moment, this show hits with another unexpected and DARK truth about this world and the moral limits and responsibilities of benders.

Apparently this was a Halloween special originally. One of the cool little details in this ep is when Katara is fighting Hama, she uses an earthbending type move to stop that wall of water head on, instead of redirecting it like a waterbender typically would. That's why Hama looks so shocked. (I've just been binge catching up with all your ATLA reactions, really enjoying them!)
